Possibilities of sports activities in patients suffering from asthma and their effects on the course of disease.
Sýkorová, Kamila ; Heller, Jan (advisor) ; Mahrová, Andrea (referee)
Title: Possibilities of physical and sports activities for patients with asthma and their influence on the medical condition Objectives: The aim of the thesis is to discover the level of active lifestyle of asthmatic patients and their participation on physical activity and sport. Another aim is to find out whether asthmatic patients are limited in physical activity or sport because of the medical condition and how the physically active lifestyle influences the medical condition and whether it takes part on improving quality of life. Methods: A survey was used for data collection. A questionnaire was distributed to people working with asthmatic patients, to sports club and university students. The research group consists of 125 respondents. The obtained data was processed into tables and charts via Microsoft Office Word 2016, Microsoft Office Excel 2016 and SPSS program. A verification of hypotheses was carried out according to the results of the survey and the independence test - chi-squared test. Research results are in the form of tables and graphs summarized at the end of the thesis. The results were compared to the resources dealing with the topic to verify if the hypothesis was true or not. Results: According to the chosen data processing methods, the limitation of asthmatic patients in...
Acute and chronic airways disease in children: new bioindicators and molecular targets for therapy
Šenkeřík, Marian ; Chládková, Jiřina (advisor) ; Hrstková, Hana (referee) ; Kopřiva, František (referee)
The aim of this thesis was to contribute to the standardization and validation of expiratory flow parameters independent of NO testing, particularly alveolar concentration (CANO) and bronchial NO flux (JawNO) in children and adolescents with allergic respiratory diseases. The thesis was created in the time of increased interest of medicine professionals in non-invasive examination methods and targeted therapeutic influence of inflammation in small airways in asthmatics. After the standardization and validation of clinical benefits, the measurement of concentrations of nitric oxide (FENO) in the air exhaled through the mouth with the speed of 50 ml/s was validated for the evaluation of eosinophilic airway inflammation in patients with asthma and started to be widely used in clinical practice. Currently, there is an ongoing research focused on a new method for FENO measurement at several flow rates, which uses physiological models of NO transfer in exhaled air, allowing to quantify the amount of NO in an indirect way and to monitor the intensity of the inflammatory processes in distal and proximal airways non- invasively. In groups of children and adolescents with allergic rhinitis and / or bronchial asthma and their healthy peers (aged 6 -19 years), the concentration of FENO was examined using online...
Verification of the effect of Ventolin Inhaler N in athletes without a diagnosis of asthma.
Hampejsová, Kateřina ; Kovářová, Lenka (advisor) ; Horčic, Josef (referee)
Title: Verification of the effect of Ventolin Inhaler N in athletes without a diagnosis of asthma. Thesis' objective: The main objective of this Thesis is to determine whether the medicament Ventolin Inhaler N affects the performance of athletes without a diagnosis of asthma. Specifically, it is about how this medicament influences the parameters in aerobic and anaerobic zone, spirometric parameters and total performance. The other objective is to verify if any of the adverse events of Ventolin Inhaler N appears before the load. Methods: The descriptive analysis method for obtaining information about the issue is used in this Thesis. A test up to a vita maxima on a treadmill according to the protocol of Bunce, spirometric measurement and an answer sheet for the evaluation of subjective feelings immediately after the test is used for the research. Test was realized using a method repeated measurement, each tested person passed the test twice, once using the Ventolin Inhaler N and once without it. Results were recorded into tables and analyzed in SPSS programme using statistical methods. Results: The medicament Ventolin Inhaler N affects the performance of athletes without a diagnosis of asthma. The Ventolin influences the spirometric parameters measured before the test (FEV1, FVC), the spirometric...
Chemokines of epithelial cells in bronchial asthma
Volfová, Dominika ; Stříž, Ilja (advisor) ; Holáň, Vladimír (referee)
Asthma is an allergic disease caused by adverse reactions to harmless antigens (allergens) and is characterized by the recruitment of eosinophils, Th2 lymphocytes, mast cells and neutrophils into the tissue site of inflammation, to the lungs. This accumulation of leukocytes is mediated by the generation of chemotactic cytokines (chemokines). Chemokines are low molecular weight proteins, functioning by binding to specific receptors on the cell surface. Binding of chemokines and their receptors is highly promiscuous and subsequent activation of effector cells is very heterogeneous, which can often complicate research in this area. However, chemokines and their receptors are important potential therapeutic targets in allergic diseases including asthma, mainly because of their central role in cell activation and inflammation. Chemokines are secreted by cells of the immune system and cells of various tissues of the body. Recently, attention turns to the role of epithelial cells in the pathogenesis of asthma. Bronchial epithelial cells stimulated by antigens produce cytokines and defense molecules used for the amplification of inflammatory processes and regulate the aktivity of effector cells. Impaired cytokine regulation may lead to the development of various lung diseases including asthma. This work...
